THIS IS MY "REAR DIFF. UPGRADE/SWAP"

This is the Dana 60 HD for my RC swap.

Details:

Dana 60 HD
Welded spiders when i got it.

This is the beginning of the cleaning process.
I started cleaning the grease and dirt from the outer housing.
It revealed the #'s in the webbing around the housing.
I had to get some misc. parts for the re-build, including...
Outer Pinion bearing and race
Pinion Seal, Cross-over U-Joint
for my driveshaft,
Misc. bolts, and diff. cover (used).

The best part of the Dana 60 HD:
The Axels can be removed in the event one breaks,
for "Quick" on the trail replacement.
If no spare axle, it is able to drive on all 4 wheels,
but, diff. fluid will likely escape, unless
you put a rag in the tube temporarily.
Most diff's loose wheels when axles break =(

UPDATE 02-02-02
Well here's the Dana 60 HD installed, AND BROKE!!!!!!!!!!
The lesson I learned here, is NEVER WELD YOUR SPIDER GEARS!!!
The diff carrier split in "Half" =(
So the lesson only cost me $750.00, due to the fact
I bought all NEW brake parts and all *NEW* bearings.

The wheels, I found luckily @ 4Wheel Parts here in Dallas..
cheap only $37.00 ea
15"X8", bolt pattern is 8 on 6.5"
So, next shop PLZ!
"TruckAmotive" out of Garland, got the next shot@
setting it up "The right way"
a *NEW* set of gears,
AND a *REAL/NEW* DETROIT LOCKER =))
Lock-Right, EZ-Locker and various other parts are
available, BUT I chose the Detroit Locker "No-Slip"
Because of it's reputation of being "BulletProof",
and "Indestructable." We'll see.... =|

OOOOOH YEEAAAA!!
before I forget, I am replacing my 440's heads
with a fresh set from Blaine's Motor Supply in Dallas
My old one's have broken studs, making my new Headers
Leak louder then my old exhaust manifolds...
I have compression leakage due to burned valves &
wore out valve springs and guides.
So out with the old, & in with the new =)

OOOOOH YEEAAAA!!
***02-07-02***
back in the "Saddle" AGAIN!!!
It's fixed, minus the "Vent tube"
